From our Waterman’s Sampler of fresh local steamed shellfish to our jumbo lump crab cakes, you can’t find more authentic, Chesapeake-sourced fare. McGarvey’s is the perfect host, capable of accommodating all occasions, with its lively Saloon, famous Oyster Bar, intimate table dining, and a private Mezzanine. The area McGarvey’s Saloon and Oyster Bar occupies has a connection to Annapolis’ maritime legacy for over 300 years. In 1696, Governor Francis Nicholson dedicated the area which is currently 8 Market Space as the Ship Carpenter’s Lot for the growing community. The current building was constructed in 1879, serving a variety of purposes from a liquor store, hardware store, to the home of the Anne Arundel County Farm Dairy. McGarvey’s Saloon and Oyster Bar was conceived by Air Force Captain Michael Ashford (Retired) in the summer of 1974. In fact, the name “McGarvey” itself comes from his grandmother’s maiden name. Capt. Ashford instituted many of the reasons we love McGarvey’s so much from: the turn-of the century d\u00e9cor, to our fresh selection on the raw bar menu, and the large ficus growing out of the floor of our Oyster Bar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
