Ironically the owner never lived there preferring his plantation  in Gambills and renting the house. Judge Jeremiah Townley Chase  and the families of Pinkney and Lockerman were among those that rented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the death of Hester Anne Harwood in 1924 the house due for demolition was purchase by St John&#8217;s College and used for the decorative arts program.
